2019 is the Year of Partnerships and Innovation

2019 is off to an exciting start for NSHA Research & Innovation. Dr. Steven Beyea and the team at BIOTIC is embarking on a new project that will enable the QEII Health Sciences Centre to be the first in Canada to have a point of care MRI in the emergency department.

This new equipment is part of a collaboration between BIOTIC and Synaptive and was funded by ACOA ($700k) and the Research Nova Scotia Trust ($1.26M). Synaptive, in addition to being a technology partner, will also provide over $1.3M through in-kind contributions.

This project highlights Nova Scotia as a centre for research and innovation on the international stage.  Patient outcomes will be studied for 3 years after the equipment is installed in September 2019. The equipment will put the right tools in the hands of clinicians who handle brain injuries.

Please join us as we congratulate Dr. Beyea and the BIOTIC team.

At the funding announcement (L to R):Dr. Colin Dodds, Alex Panther, Minister Kousoulis, Janet Knox, Dr. Steven Beyea, MP Andy Fillmore, Dr. Gail Tomblin Murphy
